Douglas Lloyd
Founder and CEO of Global Security pipeline™, a division of VB/Research

Douglas has been CEO of Global Security pipeline™ since January 2007. Since co-founding the firm, Douglas has established the company as the world’s leading provider of proprietary transaction data and business intelligence on companies, investors and technologies in the IT & Homeland security sector. Today the business employs over 30 analysts worldwide to service its blue chip clientbase including governments, investment funds, investment banks, corporate and law firms.

Mr Lloyd is a regular panellist and speaker in North America and Europe with leading organisations including the FT, GovSec, IBF, Dow Jones and Euromoney. Douglas is also a regular contributor to publications including the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters and The Economist.

Prior to founding the company, Douglas worked in corporate finance and principal investing in London, Paris and New York. He began his career at HSBC Investment Bank and was then recruited to Close Brothers Corporate Finance (London and Paris). Most recently he was Head of European Investment Banking at WR Hambrecht + Co. in New York. At Close Brothers Douglas was the fund manager for the highly successful First Close Technology Fund, which invested in companies including Active Hotels and Bango.

Douglas is a modern history graduate from Exeter University. He also holds a corporate finance diploma (MSI) from the Securities & Investment Institute.

Walter Bailey
CEO & Senior Managing Director

Mr. Bailey is a consultant to the industrial; industrial technology; clean tech; and aerospace, defense, security and safety sectors.  Mr. Bailey has over 20 years of strategy, transaction advisory and capital raising experience, having been directly involved with in excess of $100 billion of advisory assignments and having executed over $50 billion of financings for numerous growth, middle market and large cap clients, across a broad array of sectors and geographies.

Previously, Mr. Bailey was a leader of Macquarie’s Aerospace, Defense, Security & Safety and CleanTech advisory practices in New York.  Prior to that, he was a Managing Director and Co-Head of Giuliani Capital Advisors’ Security & Defense Group.  While at Jefferies & Company, from 2004 through 2006, Mr. Bailey co-founded the General Industrials Group while focusing his time on CleanTech, industrial tech, and homeland security companies.  Earlier in his career, he was an investment banking officer in Citigroup Global Markets’/Salomon Brothers’ Large Cap Diversified group; a cross-border M&A specialist at Barclays de Zoete Wedd and an M&A associate at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin.
